Rheumatology

Joint, Muscle, and Bone Health

Rheumatology is the medical specialty whose physicians diagnose and treat diseases and problems of the joints, muscles, tendons, and bones, along with autoimmune conditions that affect these structures. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is one of the more than 100 conditions treated by Rheumatologists. The list includes lupus, gout, fibromyalgia, Raynaud’s disease, osteoporosis, and all forms of arthritis including osteoarthritis. Evaluation and treatment for osteoporosis includes bone density testing, a painless procedure that measures bone strength and risk for fractures.

In recent years, many strides have been made in the treatment of autoimmune conditions and very effective treatments are now available to achieve remission of the disease and relief of symptoms. Embracing new technologies and medications is key to conquering autoimmune diseases.
